Gases escaping through leakages in pressurized pipe systems, such as non-tight screwed connections or corroded areas, produce ultrasonic sounds. The LD 450 is designed to detect even the tiniest of these leaks, which may not be audible or visible to the human senses, from several meters away. It converts these inaudible signals into frequencies that humans can discern. With a comfortable, soundproof headset, these noises can be identified even in extremely noisy surroundings.
Its integrated laser pointer, used for targeting, allows for more precise leak localization. The inclusion of a specially designed acoustic trumpet ensures better concentration of sound waves. This trumpet functions like a directional microphone, focusing ultrasonic waves and enhancing acoustic performance. The unique design of the acoustic trumpet does not obstruct the use of the laser pointer.
